September 27, 1952-August 6, 2010 Douglas Joel Baker (Doug), 57, son of Rev. and Mrs. Dale Baker of Pacific Grove, died August 6 at Westland House. Formerly from Evansville, IN, where he was the manager of a country club, Doug came to live with his parents in June while being treated for cancer.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Courtney Jean of Omaha,  NE (fiancé Kelly Grant) and Amanda Marie LaGroue of Baton Rouge, LA (Marcus);  two brothers and their wives, David and Debbie of Lakeside, OR, and Don and Valerie of Manhattan Beach; and five nephews, two nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He managed country clubs in Louisiana, Oregon, Oklahoma and Indiana and a city club in Baton Rouge. He was also a gifted vocalist, having studied briefly at the Mozartium in Salzburg, Austria. Memorial services will be at Church of the Wayfarer, Lincoln at 7th, Carmel, on Saturday, September 11 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Church of the Wayfarer Foundation to establish a scholarship for a student with a serious interest in operatic or classical music.
